Albany, New York . . .February 24, 2010 –  “Today Eric Massa became the latest in a growing list of New York Democrats to abandon public life under a cloud of suspicion and corruption.

First, Massa took more than $75,000 from disgraced Congressman Charlie Rangel and then refused to return the cash after the House Ethics Committee found Rangel violated ethics rules.  Now, new allegations of sexual misconduct are dogging the soon-to-be former Congressman.  Like so many other New York Democrats, his personal and professional behavior has left Massa scrambling for self-preservation rather than focused on public service.  (more…)

~Democrats mired in corruption and scandal fail to lead, while Republicans focus on putting New Yorkers back to work~

Albany, New York . . .March 2, 2010 -–  “While the Democratic leadership in Albany continues to wander aimlessly in a desert of corruption, scandal and chaos, State Senate Republicans have been hard at work crafting a jobs bill that would put thousands of New Yorkers back to work and help turn the state’s economy around.

Republicans are taking action and offering New Yorkers a pro-growth agenda while Democratic leaders seem content to stand idly by as our companies flee New York for more business-friendly environments. (more…)

Albany, New York . . .March 2, 2010 -  “It is clear that Mr. Ford’s decision comes at the expense of voters who are being denied the features of a true democratic system.  Rahm Emanuel and President Obama have inserted themselves in New York’s politics, imposing their Chicago-style tactics on voters in order to manipulate the outcome and clear the field for their choice.

It is a travesty that, given everything at stake in this election concerning from New York’s economy and unemployment, to the mockery Democratic leaders have made of state government, that New York Democrats and the Obama White House would force the un-elected Senator Gillibrand on rank and file Democratic party voters denying them an opportunity to choose a better candidate.”

~Chairman calls for Rangel to step down as Chairman of House Ways and Means Committee and for all recipients of Rangel’s donations to return tainted funds ~

Albany, New York . . .February 26, 2010 -–  “Congressman Rangel’s latest in a long list of offenses cited by the House Ethics Committee should be the final straw.  The time has come for Rangel to step down from his influential post as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.   The Committee’s ruling that Congressman Rangel broke House rules by accepting corporate-sponsored trips to the Caribbean makes it incumbent upon Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic leadership to insist Rangel relinquish his post and repay the cost of his trips.  For a congressman with his track record of unethical and borderline illegal behavior to have enormous influence over the Federal budget process is appalling, particularly during these tough economic times. ~ Chairman cites impact of political considerations and politically charged relationship between rivals in precluding A.G. from objective inquiry into allegations ~

Albany, New York . . .February 25, 2010 -– “While Attorney General Cuomo may have the legal authority to conduct the investigation into allegations concerning Governor Paterson, the antagonism and politically charged relationship that exists between the two political rivals greatly undermines the Attorney General’s ability to objectively and credibly investigate this matter.  (more…)

~Gillibrand is one of three Senate Democrats initiating movement to include “public option” in health care bill by employing ill-suited rulemaking device called “reconciliation” ~

Albany, New York . . .February 24, 2010 -–  “Despite New Yorkers being widely opposed to the Democrats’ plans for health care reform and the ‘public option,’ Senator Gillibrand continues to align herself with the extreme left-wing of her party. By urging parliamentary-style trickery and backdoor measures, Senator Gillibrand attempts to ramrod through healthcare legislation that would bankrupt New York State and cripple the country’s health care system.  (more…)

Albany, NY…January 19, 2010- “The Democrat majorities in the State Legislature had a chance to get $700 million more in federal education funds for the children of New York State by simply voting to raise the number of charters.  By failing to do so, they have sacrificed the future of the children of New York State on the alter of special interest politics.”

Albany, NY…January 13, 2010 – Citing the serious legal and ethical violations uncovered by state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, New York Republican State Chairman Edward F. Cox today called for the removal of State Senator Pedro Espada as Majority Leader of the State Senate.

“Senate Democrats appointed Senator Espada Majority Leader and now that he has become the latest member of their conference to face serious corruption charges, he should either step down or they should remove him,” Chairman Cox said.  “Either way, Senator Espada needs to go.”

“It’s ironic that the leaders of the Senate Democrat conference would stand up today to talk about ethics reform while their members have repeatedly demonstrated reprehensible behavior. (more…)

Albany, NY…January 6, 2010–“In the 2009 elections, the voters of New York responded loud and clear to the need for fiscally conservative leadership.  Across this state, they rejected the policies of bloated government and high taxes that are driving our people and our jobs out of state.  Voters elected Republicans to posts even in traditionally Democratic counties because they have had enough.

Today may be a day of speeches and good words, but New Yorkers require more.  They demand action to solve the chronic problems that plague this state.   If you ask New York’s taxpayers, the issues are clear, unambiguous and require immediate action.  All across New York and all across America, families are weathering this economic crisis by making tough choices.
