ALBANY, NY (06/13/2008; 1835)(readMedia)-- Tim Russert was a dedicated public servant, an accomplished journalist, and a great New Yorker. He was one of those rare and talented people who could excel at anything they set their mind to, and he touched people‘s lives wherever he went. His unique voice, rooted in his deep respect for the integrity of government and the political process, will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

ALBANY, NY (06/12/2008; 1513)(readMedia)-- Mondello Statement:
New Yorkers today welcome John McCain to a New York town hall meeting in historic Federal Hall, where he will once again demonstrate his openness, accountability and commitment to an open airing of ideas of how to best address the challenges facing America.

Although Senator Obama has found time to come to New York to raise millions of campaign dollars, he has regrettably declined to participate in this open, responsive town hall meeting with the public.

New Yorkers and Americans deserve an open and civil discussion among the two candidates about their proposed solutions to make people’s lives better. Unfortunately, it appears that Senator Obama is more comfortable delivering rehearsed speeches behind a podium.

It is particularly disturbing that Barack Obama has said that he would meet unconditionally with terrorists and tyrants, yet he refuses to meet face-to-face with the people of New York and his opponent.

Statement by Joseph N. Mondello, New York Republican Committee State Chairman

The Democrats’ divisive primary has finally concluded and the public knows little about Barack Obama other than his lack of experience and questionable judgment.

ALBANY, NY (06/10/2008; 1315)(readMedia)-- The Democrats’ divisive primary has finally concluded and the public knows little about Barack Obama other than his lack of experience and questionable judgment.

Throughout the primary process, Senator Obama spent his time giving speeches that were heavy on vague generalities and light on specific proposals to make things better for New Yorkers and Americans.

The little we know about Barack Obama— including his questionable judgment in associating with Reverend Wright, Weatherman bomber William Ayers and convicted felon Tony Resko, his lack of foreign policy experience during a time when our nation is at war and his willingness to take more money from the public to support growing government programs– demonstrate that he is not the right person to be President during the challenging times we face.

In an effort to help New Yorkers better understand Barack Obama and his shortcomings, we are posting “Meet Barack Obama” information on our website. The more you learn about Barack Obama, the more you worry about what he would do as President. -30-

As John McCain officially kicks off his general election campaign for President, the distinction between Republicans and Democrats has never been clearer. Republicans are fighting to deliver results on the issues that matter to people—providing relief from property taxes, helping small businesses create jobs, keeping people safe, and ensuring quality health care and educational opportunities.

The Republican Party, nationally and here in New York, is united to address these challenges and support the candidacy of an America patriot and dedicated public servant in John McCain. He has the experience and leadership we need in a challenging and dangerous world. (more…)

ALBANY, NY (06/03/2008; 1711)(readMedia)-- As John McCain officially kicks off his campaign for President, the distinction between Republicans and Democrats has never been clearer.

Conversely, the Democrat Party has conducted one of the least democratic primaries in history, and it has fractured support within their party. Prominent Democrats throughout their primary have publicly proven the case that Barack Obama has questionable judgment and is simply not qualified to lead our nation at this pivotal time in history.

Here in New York, the diligent work of Republicans in the New York State Senate and Assembly to deliver real results to fight taxes, create jobs and ensure a high quality of life is well known within their communities.

With these combined factors, the Republican Party is poised to build on the successes of 2007 and be very successful at the voting booth.

ALBANY, NY (05/20/2008; 1355)(readMedia)-- New York Republican State Committee Chairman Joseph N. Mondello today announced that State Committee will hold its annual State Dinner on Thursday, May 29th in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City, highlighted by Special Guests Vice President Dick Cheney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and remarks by Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno and Assembly Republican Leader James Tedisco.

“Last year’s dinner was a tremendous success, and this year’s event is shaping up to be even better. We are particularly honored to have such a distinguished group of Republicans-- led by our Vice President Dick Cheney-- who have served their constituents here in New York and across the nation with dedication and character,” said Chairman Mondello. “With appearances by Vice President Cheney and New York’s premier Republicans including Mayor Giuliani, Senator Bruno, Assemblyman Tedisco and others, it’s going to be a great time to gather together, reaffirm our principles and plans for the future, and be proud to be New York Republicans.”

Chairman Mondello reinstated the State Dinner with much success last year after nearly a decade hiatus. Enthusiastic Republican supporters filled the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers to hear United States Senator John McCain and Mayor Giuliani outline their vision for the future of the country.

“The State Dinner is a great opportunity for us to gather together and talk about what it means to be Republicans, and I am proud that we are successfully reinstating it as an annual tradition,” said Chairman Mondello. “Additionally, it is a important fundraiser that helps ensure we have the resources necessary to drive our Republican messages and support our candidates in this critical election year. It will be a great night for a good cause, so I encourage Republican supporters to come out and enjoy the evening.”

Receptions will be held beginning at 6:00 pm. The dinner and program will begin at 7:00 pm. For more information about attending the State Dinner, contact Mary or Allison at Republican State Committee at (518) 462-2601 or visit the website at www.nygop.org.
