![]() ALBANY, NY (06/10/2008; 1315)(readMedia)-- The Democrats’ divisive primary has finally concluded and the public knows little about Barack Obama other than his lack of experience and questionable judgment.
Throughout the primary process, Senator Obama spent his time giving speeches that were heavy on vague generalities and light on specific proposals to make things better for New Yorkers and Americans.
The little we know about Barack Obama— including his questionable judgment in associating with Reverend Wright, Weatherman bomber William Ayers and convicted felon Tony Resko, his lack of foreign policy experience during a time when our nation is at war and his willingness to take more money from the public to support growing government programs– demonstrate that he is not the right person to be President during the challenging times we face.
In an effort to help New Yorkers better understand Barack Obama and his shortcomings, we are posting “Meet Barack Obama” information on our website. The more you learn about Barack Obama, the more you worry about what he would do as President.

As John McCain officially kicks off his general election campaign for President, the distinction between Republicans and Democrats has never been clearer. Republicans are fighting to deliver results on the issues that matter to people—providing relief from property taxes, helping small businesses create jobs, keeping people safe, and ensuring quality health care and educational opportunities.
The Republican Party, nationally and here in New York, is united to address these challenges and support the candidacy of an America patriot and dedicated public servant in John McCain. He has the experience and leadership we need in a challenging and dangerous world. (more…)

Conversely, the Democrat Party has conducted one of the least democratic primaries in history, and it has fractured support within their party. Prominent Democrats throughout their primary have publicly proven the case that Barack Obama has questionable judgment and is simply not qualified to lead our nation at this pivotal time in history.
Here in New York, the diligent work of Republicans in the New York State Senate and Assembly to deliver real results to fight taxes, create jobs and ensure a high quality of life is well known within their communities.
With these combined factors, the Republican Party is poised to build on the successes of 2007 and be very successful at the voting booth.

Mondello Statement
Today’s Siena Research Institute poll, which found that seventy percent of people identify gas prices as one of their top concerns and nearly three-quarters of New Yorkers support gas tax relief, underscores the magnitude of the problem and need for immediate action.Republicans from Senator McCain at the federal level to Senate Majority Leader Bruno, Assembly Republican Leader Tedisco and their Republican conferences at the state level have advanced commonsense proposals to provide relief from soaring gas prices for hard working, overburdened New York families and businesses. Additionally, the State Republican Party has created an online petition at www.nygop.org to give people an opportunity to voice their opposition to gas taxes. (more…)

Republicans from Senator McCain at the federal level to Senate Majority Leader Bruno, Assembly Republican Leader Tedisco and their Republican conferences at the state level have advanced commonsense proposals to provide relief from soaring gas prices for hard working, overburdened New York families and businesses. Additionally, the State Republican Party has created an online petition at www.nygop.org to give people an opportunity to voice their opposition to gas taxes.
These sensible Republican plans will provide immediate relief from the economic problems people are facing during the busy summer driving season while longer-term solutions are proposed, researched and enacted.
Unfortunately, Democrats like Senator Obama and others at the State level are out of touch and are simply not listening to the pressing needs of working families and businesses. I urge them to read the results of this survey and act to bring about positive change.

Statement by Chairman Joseph N. Mondello, New York Republican State Committee
Republicans in New York State today took another positive step forward in our efforts to deliver real tax relief and allow more people to keep more of their hard-earned money instead of turning it back over to the government in taxes at the pump. Both the Senate and Assembly Republicans announced solid plans, and the State Party has created an online petition at www.nygop.org to give people an opportunity to voice their opposition against gas taxes.
