Albany, New York . . .February 24, 2010 – “Today Eric Massa became the latest in a growing list of New York Democrats to abandon public life under a cloud of suspicion and corruption.
First, Massa took more than $75,000 from disgraced Congressman Charlie Rangel and then refused to return the cash after the House Ethics Committee found Rangel violated ethics rules. Now, new allegations of sexual misconduct are dogging the soon-to-be former Congressman. Like so many other New York Democrats, his personal and professional behavior has left Massa scrambling for self-preservation rather than focused on public service. (more…)

Republicans are taking action and offering New Yorkers a pro-growth agenda while Democratic leaders seem content to stand idly by as our companies flee New York for more business-friendly environments. The time has come for Rangel to step down from his influential post as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. The Committee’s ruling that Congressman Rangel broke House rules by accepting corporate-sponsored trips to the Caribbean makes it incumbent upon Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic leadership to insist Rangel relinquish his post and repay the cost of his trips. For a congressman with his track record of unethical and borderline illegal behavior to have enormous influence over the Federal budget process is appalling, particularly during these tough economic times. By urging parliamentary-style trickery and backdoor measures, Senator Gillibrand attempts to ramrod through healthcare legislation that would bankrupt New York State and cripple the country’s health care system. In his new role, Carey will serve as the media’s point of contact with the State Party, and will orchestrate the Party’s New Media and messaging campaign during the critical 2010 election cycle. Cox in the New York Post With the pickup of two state Assembly seats in Tuesday’s special elections in Westchester and Suffolk counties, New York Republicans are following up on Scott Brown’s historic win in “true blue” Massachusetts. Come November, one-party rule in Albany will be on the chopping block. In fact, the return to relevance of core GOP principles — and a New York party dedicated to those principles — has been underway for most of a year. In 2008, Democrats won complete control of government in both Washington and Albany for the first time since 1935. In Congress, they used this absolute power to arrogantly jam through costly big-government programs, seasoned with huge slices of pork. In New York, corruption of a magnitude shocking even by Albany’s standards, combined with out-of-control special interests, has yielded ever-bigger budgets and deficits, higher taxes and job-killing regulation. By failing to do so, they have sacrificed the future of the children of New York State on the alter of special interest politics.” ### Jan 13 Albany, NY…January 13, 2010 – Citing the serious legal and ethical violations uncovered by state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, New York Republican State Chairman Edward F. Cox today called for the removal of State Senator Pedro Espada as Majority Leader of the State Senate. “Senate Democrats appointed Senator Espada Majority Leader and now that he has become the latest member of their conference to face serious corruption charges, he should either step down or they should remove him,” Chairman Cox said. “Either way, Senator Espada needs to go.” “It’s ironic that the leaders of the Senate Democrat conference would stand up today to talk about ethics reform while their members have repeatedly demonstrated reprehensible behavior.
