Matthew Mellon - State Finance Committee Chairman
Matthew Mellon is the Chairman of the New York Republican Party’s Finance Committee. He was named Finance Chairman by State Chairman Ed Cox in May of 2011.
The Finance Committee operates a leading and diversified role in local politics. The Committees’ mission is to harness the power back to the conservatives in New York who care about the direction of city, state and National Politics. Matthew brings an extensive network of potential donors and supporters for the Republican cause to the State Party.
Matthew worked for CNBC and was a speechwriter for Rudolph Giuliani’s successful mayoral campaign in 1993. Subsequently, he has worked as an entrepreneur in a number of Private Equity and Luxury Brands in London UK and New York- including, but not limited to: Jimmy Choo men’s shoes, Harrys of London (which he sold to the Richmont Group), Hanley Mellon, Marquis Jets, Arrival Aviation and Challenge Capital Partners.
He regularly consults on multimillion/billion-dollar transactions/business deals in London, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and New York and is currently a managing partner at Challenge Capital Partners, Ltd, which he cofounded in 2008. Matthew was born in New York, was raised in Palm Beach, New York and North East Harbor Maine. His great, great grandfather, Judge Thomas Mellon, founded the Bank of New York Mellon. He is also a descendant of the Drexel family and maintains a family office at both Drexel University and Carnegie Mellon. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Matthew lives in New York with his wife Nicole Mellon and their son, Force and has a daughter, Minty, who he raises jointly with his former wife Tamara Mellon.
