NY GOP: McMahon Not Fit to Serve
~Jewish Donor Controversy Runs Deeper Than Congressman Lets On~
Albany, New York . . . July 30, 2010 – “Congressman Mike McMahon’s response to his campaign’s offensive tactics is entirely insufficient. At the very least, McMahon must investigate the process through which this information was delivered to the media and fire additional members of staff who were involved. The remarks themselves, delivered on McMahon’s behalf, represent a segregationist outlook that is not only wholly inappropriate, but also demonstrative of the Congressman being entirely out-of-touch with New York’s voters, and standards of decency.”
“While McMahon’s spokeswoman, Jennifer Nelson, has taken the fall for her boss, it is unlikely Ms. Nelson acted alone during the process of preparing the attack on what Nelson dubbed the “Jewish money” raised by the Grimm campaign. Nelson herself admitted the list of Jewish donors was compiled by the campaign’s chief fundraiser – a list the campaign dubbed “Grimm Jewish money Q2,” meaning their fundraiser was obviously aware and involved in preparing the information to be released. In addition, it is unlikely such a tactic would have been developed and released publically without some consultation with either the Congressman’s campaign manager, chief of staff or McMahon himself.
"It appears that there is deep and systemic problem within the congressman’s campaign which has not been as yet addressed. Rep. McMahon has obviously shown terrible judgment in hiring a team of individuals, some of whom are apparently capable of such reprehensible views and deplorable political tactics. It’s the kind of politics New Yorkers can do without. McMahon has shown he is not fit to serve and should resign if it is shown he was at all aware of this line-of-attack."
