Vincent D. Reda - First Vice Chairman
In 2006 Vincent D. Reda was unanimously elected by his peers, the 62 County GOP Chairmen, to become First Vice Chairman of the New York Republican State Committee. Reda has earned a reputation as a tenacious and a true political tactician who has honed the art of leading winning campaigns over years by getting the most out of his committee members.
Since taking the helm of the Rockland County Republican Committee in 1992, Vincent D. Reda has cultivated a magnificent record of achievements from rebuilding the Republican Party in Rockland County to strengthening it to win major elections despite a nearly 3 to 1 Democrat voter enrollment edge. Reda’s political service began as a member of the Young Republican Club at Fordham University. He was then a committeeman in the Bronx until moving to Rockland County about 30 years ago. Upon coming to Rockland, he joined the Republican committee and quickly moved into the leadership. He was elected Chairman of the Clarkstown Committee and served there for 14 years.
In one of the most dramatic upsets in Rockland politics, Reda lead the charge to elected the county’s first Republican County Executive, Scott Vanderhoef. Since then Scott has been re-elected to an unprecedented five consecutive terms. In subsequent years, his leadership saw victories for Sheriff, District Attorney, and the frist woman elected to Family Court. In 2009, Republicans in Rockland also took back control of the Towns of Stony Point and Orangetown. His leadership and his guidance led to the success of Tom Morahan’s bid for State Senate during a special election in 1999 and returning him to serve in Albany each election since.
He has also served in the NY State Guard with the rank of Major. An active community booster, he has served as Clarkstown Sunrise Rotary Club President and has been awarded the highly prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship and a Presidential Citation. Twice he has been honored with the Distinguished Service Award of the Rockland Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is also a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion, Korean Veterans and associate member of the Vietnam Vets. He is a member of the Italian American Social Club and Sons of Italy. Vinnie is a proud father of two daughters and a son along with six grandsons and two granddaughters.
