WALTER NAMED LAZIO CAMPAIGN MANAGER

~Senior State GOP Staffer to Take Leave-of-Absence to Run Gubernatorial Campaign~

Albany, New York…July 29, 2010 – Rick Lazio, the Republican and Conservative Party Designee for Governor, and New York State Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox today announced that Matthew Walter, current Director of Strategic Planning for the Republican State Committee, will be taking a leave-of-absence from his current position has been named Campaign Manager of Rick Lazio’s campaign for Governor.  

Since 2007, Mr. Walter has served as a senior staff member at New York’s Republican State Committee.  His extensive experience in political operations includes virtually all aspects of modern, effective campaign management, including fundraising, communications and media relations, voter outreach, grassroots organizing, political strategy, legal compliance, and volunteer coordination. 

Rick Lazio said, “Matt’s leadership will help bring victory for the people of this state in November so we can finally clean up Albany.  Matt's leadership will help deliver our message of lower taxes, job growth and reducing the size of government to the voters of New York.”

State Republican Chairman Ed Cox added, “Rick and I agree that Matt will be a great Campaign Manager.  I can attest to Matt's considerable attributes.  We were successful last year and we will win this year due, in part, to the capabilities and programs Matt has helped bring to the State Party.”

Matt Walter's selection will further strengthen the coordination between the State GOP and the Lazio campaign that has been ongoing since the Republican State Convention in June.
